The Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Square is back for a fourth year with more lanterns, more interactive opportunities and more food and drink options than ever before. The festival is a celebration of Chinese culture and features 2, handmade silk lanterns depicting everything from pandas to dancing fairies to dinosaurs. The lanterns are comprised of more than 20, LED lights and make up 29 massive displays throughout Franklin Square 6th and Race streets in Philadelphia.
The festival announced this afternoon that it is extending its stay at Franklin Square to July 14, two weeks beyond its original closing date of June Visitors can check out 27 illuminated displays made of 2, individual lanterns and thousands of LED lights, including a foot long phoenix, and a fortune-telling wheel. There are also cultural performances in the evenings, and a beer garden to relax in. The festival is open seven days a week.
And as of June, the festival has been extended through Sunday, July 14 to enable more visitors the opportunity to enjoy the illuminated hand-made sculptures and cultural stage performances.
